website design

website design that argues your case

Not a template with your logo dropped into it. We work out what the site has to say, who it has to convince, and then design and build the whole thing.

what you get

  • positioning before pixels

DMB UK Construction sells to main contractors and to homeowners, two buyers who share almost no vocabulary. The navigation splits at that decision, so neither audience has to read the other one's page. That call was made before anything was drawn.

  • design with a point of view

Layout, typography, motion and imagery chosen for your business rather than for a portfolio shot. Balanced, functional and unmistakably yours.

  • we build it as well

We hand over a running site, not a folder of mockups and a shrug. The people who designed it are on the same team as the people who build it.

  • content you can change

Pages that are editable without a developer, with search where a catalogue needs it. Wijntransport's customers reach the range through Algolia search and a category side menu.

  • fast enough to keep

Moving Collecteurs to React cut its load times substantially, and the interface was rebuilt on top of that. Speed is a design decision.

  • inside your brand guidelines

Oxford's report tool holds every generated report inside the university's brand guidelines. Leverage's two-colour palette came straight from theirs and still keeps long passages readable.

the stack

The stack is chosen for the product, not the other way round. This is what we reach for first.

sites we designed and built

Four sites where the design brief was a business problem first and a visual one second.

questions we get asked

Do you design, or design and build?
Both, and we prefer both. DMB UK Construction was design and build end to end, which is why the quote form asks for the programme, drawings and site constraints rather than a name and a message: whoever designed that form had to build it too.
Can you work inside our existing brand guidelines?
Yes. Two of the sites on this page were built to somebody else's brand book, and stayed inside it: Oxford's reports and Leverage's two-colour palette.
We already have a site. Redesign or rebuild?
Whichever the site deserves. Wijntransport was a redesign that kept what worked and added search and a shop experience. Collecteurs was a rebuild, because the old framework was the thing making it slow. We will tell you which one you are looking at.
Will we be able to edit it ourselves?
Yes. Content is structured so your team can change copy, images and listings without a deployment, and we show you how before we finish.
How long does a website take?
Less than a product build, and it is quoted before design starts rather than discovered halfway through. Fixed price, agreed up front.
